HausMoney™: Declined Transactions

Find out some of the top reasons on why you might have a declined transaction!

Written by Sebastian.J Jordan

Billing Address (Online purchases)

The #1 reason for declined transactions that we see is billing address discrepancies. This could be because the billing address (or legal address) you set for the HausMoney card currently does not match the one you have with the online vendors (examples: Amazon, Apple Cash, etc.) Updating your billing address in those online accounts, you can review the address you have associated to your HausMoney account.

ATM Withdrawals

The daily ATM withdrawal limit is $500.00, with a maximum of $250.00 per transaction. Please keep in mind that the ATM itself may also have its own withdrawal limit.

  • These limits enable us to promptly detect any suspicious activities and ensure the protection of your finances.

Frozen HausMoney Card

A frozen HausMoney card will cause transactions to be declined because the freeze instantly deactivates the card for new purchases. It acts as a security measure, preventing any unauthorized use of your card, which means even legitimate attempts to use it will be blocked until you unfreeze it.

Pending tips and bill payments

When your employer makes a payout to your HausMoney account, your tips may be posted in two stages:

  • Available balance — Tips credited immediately and ready to spend.

  • Pending balance — Tips that have been issued but are still clearing. Pending funds are visible in your account but cannot be used until they fully credit.

If a biller pulls funds while some of your tips are still pending, the ACH debit will fail due to insufficient funds. Your biller may then charge you a late fee.

⚠️ To avoid a failed payment: Make sure your available balance (not including pending tips) covers the full payment amount before the biller's withdrawal date.

Transaction Limits

The daily spending limit for card purchases at POS is $5,000, and the daily cash withdrawal limit at ATM or OTC is $500. There is a separate $10,000 limit for ACH transfers.

Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to exceed any of the limits in a single day.

Insufficient Funds

There is not currently enough money in the HausMoney account to cover the cost of the transaction that is being declined. Log in to your HausMoney account and double-check whether this is the case.

Final Thoughts:

Double-check that you entered your information correctly for the billing address and that you're using the correct PIN. Check if you have any pending transactions that might prevent you from successful transactions due to insufficient funds. If there's still a problem, please contact us. We will be able to tell you what the issue is and how to fix it.
